Top 5: Upcoming Open World Zombie Games

Hello ladies and gentlemen, CaptainShack here and welcome to the top 5
upcoming open world zombie survival games. Yeah, I know, there’s a shit-ton of them so let’s dive into this quickly becoming
saturated genre of undead mayhem. DayZ set the tone for everything to come. Originally a mod for the mil sim Arma 2, and its
expansion: Operation Arrowhead, even with all its issues, this title exploded with thousands of players
buying up Arma just to play it. Bohemian Interactive took notice of this and hired on the mod leader Dean Hall
to create a standalone version on top of the Arma 3 engine. With a focus on improving the engine
to better fit DayZ’s needs, improvements like a focus on inventory management,
better zombie AI, a more realistic world, allowing players to
enter more of the buildings, better item spawns and an enhanced
client server architecture and a massive list of other enhancements. Though, if you’re looking to get into DayZ, I highly
recommend getting into the original modded version The mod support for it is amazing already with base building already implemented
and a nice list of other features depending on what server you play on. This one’s kind of a cop out for me because it’s a remake of the original Xbox 360
release and the PC release with HD textures and all of the
expansions included. It’s a sweet game focusing on
open world survival, base building, resource management and you
find and save survivors to join your crew but at the cost of adding another mouth to feed,
so there’s hard decisions to make there. This for me is one of my favorite zombie games
so far out, and I can’t wait for the HD release. Now the question is:
will we get an HD upgrade for the PC release? Also, it’s been mentioned that the devs of
State of Decay wanna make State of Decay 2 and include full cooperative mode. Yes please. When Hengest showed me Unturned
I laughed at him. What the hell is this Minecraft-esque
zombie bullshit? Then I played it. There’s a reason on August 1st of this year
that it was the most played game on Steam. The controls are smooth, weapons are satisfying, and it’s just fun to play. What’s crazy is the fact that it
has a single developer: 16 year old, Nelson Sexton. He’s the owner of Smartly Dressed Games. The game has the basic formula:
you start with next to nothing, and you have to raid local towns
for food and supplies. It’s free to play and I highly
recommend it over on Steam. The next big patch is coming with some
impressive new elements like a level editor and modding support so definitely check that one out. It’s Early Access, so it’s
not technically released yet and that’s why it made it on this list. Woah, the Dead Island devs are back with a
fucking vengeance. Maybe they’re just really good at making trailers,
because Dying Light’s trailer blew me away. It’s open world and one of the
best looking games on this list. In the day time you’re the hunter finding supplies and again, like Dead Island,
has a focus on melee combat, at least so it seems on the trailer. But at night the zombies get nasty and there’s
something else out there hunting the player. What really looks cool is the free-running aspect
and the 4 player coop. You get a bit of verticality with it as you get like a hookshot you can
use to get up on top of buildings. It definitely looking like a fast paced, fun
zombie game I can’t wait to try out. The first on this list that’s taking a look at every single zombie game that’s
already out there and what they’re doing, and kind of bringing it all into one game. And keeping a focus on the zombies. I mean honestly, zombies should be the threat.
Not a backdrop for a PvP game. This sucker is gonna be an MMO with
a full on crafting system and server caps they want
to reach around 2000 players. Hot damn! Add in the building materials like
chopping down trees for wood and then setting up a base to do raids out of. Much like Rust they wanna add in air drops. Which if you’ve ever played on a
populated Rust server you know air drops turn into
a clusterfuck of gunfire in seconds, with a massive population, all the survival
mechanics of the other games, weather that actually affects the world,
like rain making you cold, or the collection of fresh water. It’s turning into the ultimate zombie survival
game, which is why it’s my number one. But what do you guys think? Did I miss one? Let me know in the comments below. What does your list look like?

  • 2:52 You should have said they must be  really really good at making trailers because there always better than the game itself

  • I saw Summit1g play H1Z1 with one of the developers. Probably one of the games Im most excited for to watch/play. For now on watch because of crappy computer.

  • You should take a look at Survive the Nights. It may not look as nice as some of these titles In the list, but it is definitely one of the upcoming Zombie games that is worth mentioning!

  • Survive the Nights looks really good if you haven't heard of it already.  The game looks pretty good, feels like how I imagine I would actually live in a zombie apocalypse, and the game makes interacting with your environment so much fun in how you can use your supplies with it and construct all kinds of things to protect yourself and keep healthy.

  • hi my name is jonathon and i would lov to join TGN. i post all sorts of gaming content such as minecraft terraria five nights at freedys i have no copyrights strikes 6 subscribers and i wan to make gaming content for the world and help my mom out with her budget. please like so they see my comment. Thanks <('-')>

  • I want a company to make a game like Day Z or H1Z1, but Singleplayer. Heck, Multiplayer is awesome, but I would really appreciate something like Day Z singleplayer. Sure games like State of Decay are singleplayer, but they don't have the crafting, base building, etc.

Also, awesome video, really well made! 🙂

  • H1Z1 twitchy gameplay would make it impossible to have interesting player interactions (unless you're playing with friends). Game is going to be a KOS fest just like rust and Infestation: survivor stories.

  • Dying Light looks like it's on a whole other level. Mostly because of the movement though, don't know if it will have the traditional zombie survival feeling

  • Honestly. I think Survive the Nights should be on this list. Definitely a game worth checking out. But good list nonetheless!

  • Wish there was a first person fast paced open world zombie apocalypse game with tons and tons of players or you can go and find supplies and Raid towns and if like one of your friends or something gets bit then Then u can shoot then 😀 that'd be funny. You can board up doors or like set up on roof tops or something like that and there's a day and night cycle there can be a tornado sometimes maybe floods and u can just do what you want and play like you want to

  • Will the State of Decay upgrade be arriving on PS4? I'll have to check. I wish some of these open world zombie games included an offline, single player mode.

  • we only have three zombies games on next gen dead island 2, dying light and last of us first things first last of us was an old game that we already experienced on old gen so that shouldn't even count as a new zombie game and dead island 2 is shit that game is so far from good dying light is the only decent zombie game on ps4 and all the upcoming zombie games release 1 year or 2 years from now.. so nothing good in the zombie department it looks like 2015 is not the good year for next gen gaming..

  • 7 days to die they need to make it for next gens. It cost way to much to play it on pc with out lagging and having great graphics

  • In my opinion, we really need an extremely realistic, huge open world, (similar to the map in fallout.) zombie game where the main point is to survive. Not to do missions or quests.

  • they need to make a new open world survival game where you could run around a whole deserted city and find supplies or something and phycos are in the houses and buildings because they're really dark, and once it gets dark they run around looking for you and you have to run, hide and survive. something like outlast but open world

  • The need to make an open world, survival, online, real time zombie game
where the map is literally the earth. everything to the T.
Make it adaptable with the VR.
No re-spawns for items like food( once an item has been taken from a house, it doesn't re-spawn for someone else who comes in later in the game).

  • what about 7 days to die , they do awesome job in version (alpha) 14 and have all element of good zombie game

  • and dead island and dead island riptide also good games, walking dead overkill i hope it s be good game

  • Here is what we need. The parkour of day z, the first person capabilities of left for dead, the overall feel of day z, a city like map of gta v, lots of customization, online co op/multiplayer, the feel of last of us, the zombies of I am legend/world war Z, and put it in the new state of decay.

  • My dream game…I want a single player and local/online(2 to 8 players)zombie RPG. Open world as if you're in TWD. Good graphics, smooth engine. Create a character, choose a class/wep spec (samurai, archer, gunslinger, brute, bandit, medic, engineer, ETC), choose your background/old world occupation/home nation/hometown(just for the role playing aspect), customize facial/body features. Build stats(charisma, agility, intelligence, strength, stamina)…Enter world to a deserted town, roam the streets unnoticed, find a weapon, kill some zombies. Virtually any area you find can be built into a shelter, find a place to call home. Play as a lone wolf or occasionally befriend survivors or make enemies. Defend home-base from zombies and/or raiders. Build a group of survivors, benefit from each others classes/skills. Who knows, the redneck could make moonshine and bombs for the team. Or the scientist can concoct a lethal gas to repel enemies. And maybe the sneaky scavenger can find you some duct tape to add armor to your gear. Hunt in the open world, find new weapons/armor/cosmetic items, find a working vehicle– eventually build the vehicle into an unstoppable death machine with spikes. Turn your group of survivors to the dark side, overrun other shelters and claim it yours! Become a villain or help others, its your choice in this game. Search for a cure(that doesnt exist), get bit in the arm? CUT IT OFF. Feel like its easier to survive in the harsh cold? Travel north. Feel like the ocean is zombie-less? Find a dock. How about you find a Costco and build an impenetrable fortress in the electronics section? Exploring would keep this game exciting. This game would be EPIC. Thanks for entering my mind @ 3AM… Thats my dream game. I left out a lot of detail but thats the gist of it.

  • they should have an open-world zombie game that has a map as big as The Crew, only have all the countries instead of just the USA, has graphics like Uncharted 4: A Thieve's End, should be based on survival only and not missions/quests, has a worktable where you can make ANYTHING like Minecraft has, but you can make car parts and other parts, then have to put them together seperately on a certain platform, and when you build your base, you can either choose to live in your original house in a city, or build one somewhere else, and you can grow crops and other stuff, has characters that you have to find on your own with no waypoint, choices to make on how your life goes on the way you choose to live, and you can eventually wipe out the whole Earth population of zombies and rebuild humanity with your small group. That's the ultimate open-world zombie game

  • I hate third person games. It looks unrealistic besides its tizzy. I lose my bearing easily. Its not immersive enough its like you're watching someone else play and the camera is following it. who ever had this idea in the first place is a dumb ass. I want a first person view because I want a immersive, be-in-the-action kind of game not watching from a third person perspective and be a third person in the game because I'm the one playing the game not some puppet taking my place.

  • I really want a game like, say crafting deads collecting supplies and base building and stuff, ghost recons graphics and massive map and gta 5s character customisation all combined into a awesome zombie game, that would just be awesome
